Legazpi NGO promotes health advocacy anew
Continuing their advocacy of promoting healthy lifestyle for everyone, the Kiwanis Club of Legazpi (KCL) once again conducted their Watch Your Health project on Sunday, July 31, at the Divine Word College of Legazpi.
The KCL is a non-profit and non-government organization that helps other people through medical checkups, among many ways for almost 20 years.
Circling on the theme, “Helping to improve the health of the world, one community at a time,” the event was participated by a total of 120 people from various places across the province have themselves package a set of laboratory health testing for 800 pesos.
The event partnered with several laboratory clinics and medical practitioners for them to assess and detect certain risks that their participants should be warned about.
Christopher Gianan, the chairperson of the program said that the event is for all the people who need to be conscious and aware of themselves.
“This was done for them to prevent complication like diabetes, hypertension, and early diagnosis of early diseases,” he said.
Noting the expensiveness of a laboratory test, Gianan said that for 800 pesos, the event is a cheaper version since the price was 50 percent off, despite the inclusion of other services like optical checkups, nutritional counselings, digital rectal exam, and bone screenings in the package.
“In this case, I am encouraging everyone to be part of our event. Prevention is always better than cure. So the earlier we detect your disease, the higher chance it can be cured with less expense,” he said.
The ‘Watch your Health’ runs twice a year on all Sundays of February and August.with reports from Mheica Vanessa Arevalo
